In support of the practice of EcoLiving we have come up with set of focus areas to develop Multipurpose Centers to promote more eco-conscious living. This EcoLiving Solutions Program is designed to complement and cultivate the practice of EcoLiving.
Core Program Areas:
- EcoBuilding to promote smart building designs that offer multi use and synergistic designs that do more with less
- Renewable Energy Production
- Waste Recycling - of waste streams such as through Integrated Farming
- Financial Permaculture - in terms of developing a eco-business approach that is locally focused on value added production
- Holistic ICT - Integration of knowledge and best practices though ICT and their wide dissemination through the Internet to areas that need them most.
The Tipping Point for human transformation towards sustainability and social justice is based on the rising realization of the need to take unprecedented and decisive actions to demonstrate practical solutions to the world’s pressing problems that are pro-actively. We are proposing a proactive whole systems approach to AIDS, poverty and Global Climate Change and other World Urgent Issues that’s comprehensive, not symptomatic.
Further economic development is necessary in many parts of the world, but this must be tempered with a consideration of how that development affects the whole of humanity as well as the larger ecological systems of the planet of which we are a part. The construction of our built environments and social systems must be done with care in regards to the ecological and human implications of construction technologies, as considering how the design and the materials used impacts human and ecological systems.
OVF is positioning itself to provide consulting services with a focus on an holistic approach to sustainable development that is Synergistic, seeing that that is needed to effectively implement any EcoLiving Solutions Platform to maximum effect.
Goals
- Preparing for a Silicon Valley Transformation that fully takes into account the rising influence of Emerging Markets in the global economy and also helping those markets develop modern institutions and infrastructure, primarily at the community and university level:
- Create a global ICT Network to facilitate the rapid scale-out of sustainable technologies and approaches
- Organize conferences, charrettes and seminars to promote our approach and that of our EcoPartners.
- Provide economically and socially viable alternatives to the existing system. We are particularly concerned with the situation in Africa in relation to World Urgent Issues like AIDS, other health problems and environmental and social degradation throughout the world. We believe that there are economically profitable solutions to these problems that can rapidly transition humanity to a sustainable future.
Steps to Implementation
A Massive and dramatic shift in thinking and opening minds to the possibility of change is needed to promote sustainability/EcoLiving Here are the steps:
- Collect Appropriate Technology through wikis and other Web tools
- Bring together appropriate networks of practitioners to deploy them
- Develop demos to further evolve and test out the models
- Replicate the model at the grassroots/community level
